Wogbej3k3 (By Poet Dela)

Wogb3j3k3
Our dreams were once extravagant
Respect for elders
at it's highest peak
The African culture
was so dear to youngins
Our ideas full of afrofuturism

We from the north, south
east and west
Dispensed like seeds all over
The Continent is infested with ideas
Priceless ideas is what we possess
Yet we swim in ignorance

Then our territory gets invaded
The white man becomes our guest
Little did we know
he had an agenda and was on a quest
Our precious stones exchanged
for that of the gunpowder

Suddenly the black redeemer
came to our rescue
We hailed him for a second
Accusing him of dictatorship
was a bloody excuse

The influx of foreign ideas
swept ours under the carpet
Our beautiful woven kente
traded for suit and tie.
Now, sex dolls are more preferable
than our well-endowed women

Indeed we come from afar
with no destination
but an aim for greed and selfishness
We abandoned our peaceful homes
to become slaves outside

But I still have memories
of our rich culture exhibited by kings
I still remember the stories told by
Maame Dorkonu when we
gathered by the fire side
I still recalled how I worried mama
to join my friends on kyekyekule
My childhood was amazing

Wogbej3k3
We really have come
along way!
